Yes. The Jot requires a 3v CR 2016 coin cell watch battery. It can be easily removed by unscrewing the cover on the top of the Jot.

Makes a great gift!
I’m a SLP and my students love using this as we practice speech and language skills. Much more fun than paper and pencil. Several of them want one for Christmas after using mine.

Worked for a couple months
It worked and was useful for a few months then it stopped erasing the image. I replaced the battery and it still doesn't work. There is a corner pinch technique described on the a website and it worked one time. Now that doesn't work either so off to the landfill with it.

Love it!
I keep mine on the fridge as a grocery list. I've had my old Boogie Board for about 6 years. It still works! Its been dropped bunches of times but that thing keeps going. I got myself a new one since I was buying for my daughters. I wanted them to have one for their fridge too. My old Boogie Board will now become a drawing pad for the grandkids.

Love my Boogie Boards
So unexpectedly I lost my hearing due to brain tumors growing and pushing in my brain stem. I do NOT know sign language and either does anyone in my family. Well truth be told the family members are NOT willing to learn ASL. So what’s the next best thing…. Someone I know who is already DEAF wrote long time ago she used a Boogie Board! So I purchased 2 JOT Writing Tablets for house and a JOT Pocket to keep in purse! Well I realized I needed more to keep in every room…. So I bought 2 Blackboard Deluxe so my 75yo Mama Bear can write what the doctors say or ask. Also another 2 JOT Writing Tablets. So I figured with the holidays coming up which will happen after having my 2nd brain surgery I bought 3 more to keep at brother’s house where holidays normal are spent! I find people forget I’m deaf and it’s annoying and aggravating when you tell people over and over…. So I just figured I’ll hand them a Boogie Board and say write if you wanna talk to me. When I first told my one sister about Boogie Board she said how does mom lose a big boogie board! I told her it was NOT what you take to the ocean. My only wish is that it was a different color ink because I always have to hold it closer to my face to see the green that’s not that bright!

First one I bought
I needed a birthday gift for someone.It’s excellent for fridge notes and easy for her to read. Love it so much I got more as gifts and one for myself

We ended up buying them for the whole family!
We bought a Boogie Board Jot to write our grocery list while the Jot is on our fridge but our kids kept taking it off the fridge to draw and play games. With all the computers and video games in the house they kept going back to the Boogie Board! We ended up having to buy a Boogie Board for everyone in our house and I even bought one for the office. It's so simple to use and that's the beauty of it. I use mine literally every day and I struggle to think what life was like before we all had our Boogie Boards.

Time saver
I've used Jots for years now and they have a lot of great uses. We keep one on the fridge for grocery lists and/or important dates. It's always much easier than endlessly digging through clutter to find a pen and piece of scrap paper that'll ultimately get lost.
